Why microchannels?

Concept illustration.

Microchannel reactors divide process flow into small channels. Their geometry can support heat and mass transfer in a compact assembly. Performance depends on more than channel size: materials, catalyst configuration, pressure drop and manufacturing consistency all matter.

For methanol reforming, managing the heat supplied to the reaction is a central engineering challenge. The goal of our development programme is to investigate how a microchannel architecture can combine reaction and thermal management.

Hydgenfuel is at TRL 3. The next step is to validate repeatable performance experimentally before defining a commercial operating envelope.
